In Search of the One and Only Beef
For Half a Centur

In December 2019, after 26 years of running our creative cuisine restaurant “Shimokawa” in Shin-Yurigaoka, Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, we relocated to Oizumigakuen.
To focus entirely on beef, we renamed the restaurant to “Beef Cuisine Shimokawa.”
Although we were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have since resumed operations.
Our shop is small, with a cozy counter space of just under 24 square meters.
We welcome you to visit when you're in the mood for truly delicious beef — even if it costs a little more.

menu
At Shimokawa, our specialty is unmistakably beef dishes.
Our owner-chef is a true beef expert, having spent years perfecting the art of beef cuisine.
We use carefully selected lean cuts of premium beef and serve them in a variety of styles — from succulent steaks and beef sushi to crispy fried bites.
A wide range of take-out options is also available for you to enjoy our flavors at home.

Inside the Restaurant
Our "final stage" is Oizumigakuen, located in Nerima Ward — known as the greenest of Tokyo’s 23 wards.
At our cozy 23-square-meter restaurant, centered around a well-worn counter that carries the warmth and character of time,
we invite you to relax and enjoy a quiet, unhurried moment.

Our Commitment to Mishima Beef and Mukaku Wagyu
Mishima beef is a rare breed of cattle raised on Mishima Island in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
It is officially designated as a national natural monument due to its historical and genetic importance.
These cattle are raised on natural pastures and fed only natural, non-artificial feed. Their meat is beautifully marbled throughout, making it extremely rare and prized.
Since the number of Mishima cattle is strictly regulated for preservation, Shimokawa uses only the most carefully selected cuts, making the available quantity extremely limited. In addition to Mishima beef, Shimokawa also serves Abu beef, a hornless (polled) Wagyu breed from the same Yamaguchi Prefecture.
While it has a firmer texture compared to fattier cuts, its rich flavor and lean profile make it a healthy and satisfying choice.
